NORMAN — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said two children have now died after an ATV accident that occurred last Sunday near Norman.
OHP said the accident happened around 4 p.m. at Happyland ATV Park near the South Canadian River, a mile west of Norman in Cleveland County.
According to OHP, 31-year-old Kendra Mann, 31 of Newalla was driving a Polaris Ranger ATV during the incident. Her passengers were Kelsey Drummer 26, and juveniles ages 8 months to 6 years old, all of Newalla.
The two adults and a 6-year-old and 3-year-old were not injured. A 2-year-old boy and 8-month-old boy were pinned for 20 minutes before being freed by emergency personnel and taken to Norman Healthplex. The 8-month-old was pronounced deceased Sunday and the 2-year-old Wednesday.
OHP said the condition of the driver, seatbelt use and cause of the accident were still under investigation. No helmets were in use. Assisting at the scene was EMSTAT, Norman Police Department and the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Department.
