The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said multiple people died in an accident Christmas night just east of Boswell in south-central Oklahoma.
The collision occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. on U.S. 70, about 1.5 miles east of the town of Boswell, half a mile past North 4040 Road.
OHP said one vehicle, a 2007 Ford pickup, was being driven by 24-year-old Fernando Rodriguez-Ramirez (SIC) of Johnson City, Texas. His passenger was Humberto Rodriguez-Ramirez, 32, also of Johnson City.
Fernando was taken by Choctaw County EMS and Bryan County EMS to Texoma Medical Center in Sherman, Texas and admitted in critical condition with trunk and leg injuries.
Humberto was transported by AirEvac to Plano Medical Center in Plano, Texas and admitted in critical condition with back, trunk and leg injuries.
A second vehicle involved in the accident, a 2020 Toyota Camry, was being driven by 63-year-old Max Sides of Coleman, Okla. His passengers were Vicki Sides, 55, from Coleman, Max Sides Jr., 32, from Coleman, and 31-year-old Kristina Mannor, 31, from Leesville, La.
Max Sr., Max Jr. and Vicki Sides were all pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel. Mannor was transported by Choctaw County EMS to Hugo Airport and airlifted by MARC to St. Francis Hospital and then to St John’s Hospital in Tulsa and admitted in critical condition with head, trunk and leg injuries.
OHP said the cause of the accident and the condition of both drivers is still under investigation. Seat belts were in use by both drivers and all but two passengers. One passenger in each vehicle was pinned for 40-55 minutes and freed with the jaws of life by the Hugo Fire Department.
Also assisting at the scene were Choctaw County EMS, Boswell and Soper Volunteer fire departments D., Choctaw County Sheriff’s Department, Hugo Police Department, Choctaw Nation Tribal Police Department, Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, AirEvac and MARC
