Heavy rain on Friday afternoon damaged roads near Coweta, forcing closures and leading to some emergency evacuations.
In Coweta, heavy water washed out and dislodged a culvert and damaged a road, flooding the area of S. 289th East Avenue between 131st Street and Highway 51.
The city of Coweta closed 289th to all traffic in that area because the roadway was impassable. The culvert was removed and concrete barricades were set up.
The road falls under Wagoner County jurisdiction, and county crews were on site evaluating the situation. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and use an alternate route.
Additionally, S. 337th East Ave in between 129th and 141st streets was down to one lane Friday evening while county workers repaired the roadway, Wagoner County Emergency Operations said.
District 1 and District 2 county road workers responded to the site in an attempt to repair wash outs.
