TULSA – Forecasters are warning of dangerously high temperatures moving into the Tulsa metro area for this afternoon and tomorrow.
The National Weather Service issued an extreme heat warnings for both today and Tuesday, as high temperatures are expected to settle in the upper 90s to over 100 degrees F with very high dew points making it feel very miserable outside.
The extreme heat warning for Monday, which includes Tulsa and Wagoner Counties, extends until 8 p.m. tonight. On Tuesday, another extreme heat warning is set from noon to 8 p.m. again. Heat index values today could reach up to 110 degrees F, and on Tuesday could go as high as 115 degrees F in some areas.
Temperatures like this can bring on heat-related illnesses very quickly, so people are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned structure and avoid being in the sun.
Make sure to check on relatives and neighbors and also ensure all outdoor pets have adequate shelter and water.
