Broken Arrow Mayor Debra Wimpee was named Citizen of the year during the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce annual Awards Gala Saturday.
Wimpee was re-elected to her second term on the city council in April and appointed by her fellow council members to serve as mayor.
She’s the executive director of two commercial real estate associations and BA Buzz. In addition, she has also been a Chamber Ambassador for a number of years and a Broken Arrow Rotarian.
Wimpee and her husband, Glenne, graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 1990 and they’ve been married for 18 years and have 3 children.

• Total Resource Campaign Top Producer: Mike Scrimsher, Royal Printing
• Community Advocate of the Year: Robyn Havener, Edward Jones
• Manufacturer of the Year: Cameron Glass
• Non-Profit of the Year: Volunteers of America
• Minority Owned Business of the Year: The Flower Co.
• Business Person of the Year: Dr. Travis Ring, Eastern Oklahoma Chiropractic
• Small Business of the Year (15 or less employees): Legacy Counseling Service
• Large Business of the Year (16-50 employees): Ascension St. John Broken Arrow & Saint Francis Hospital South
• Entrepreneur of the Year: Cory Else – Pro Day Athlete Development
• Citizen of the Year: Mayor Debra Wimpee
Wimpee was a Main Street retail store owner in the Rose District for four years. She believes that experience was instrumental in getting plugged into the Broken Arrow community even further.
Wimpee became a Broken Arrow Chamber member and went on to serve on the Board of Directors for 2 years. She’s also sat on the Board of Directors for the Tulsa Young Republicans and the BA Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club for 3 years.
