More than 100 firefighters responded to downtown Wagoner Monday to fight a large blaze fire that resulted in the loss of several businesses.
More than 18 agencies battled the inferno, which completely destroyed two structures. At one point Wagoner residents were asked to curtail their water useage so firefighters would have enough.
Wagoner County Emergency Management said a multitude of first responder agencies and non-profits came to aid those at the scene. WCDM shared a special thanks to the American Red Cross, Miranda’s Cake Cafe in downtown Wagoner, SERVPRO of Mayes and Wagoner Counties for delivering coffee, water, snacks and food for the responders.
Crews from Okay Fire Department, Hulbert Fire, Ft. Gibson Fire, Pryor Fire Department, Broken Arrow Fire Department, Wagoner Fire Department, Whitehorn Cove Fire , Toppers Fire, Stone Bluff Fire Department, Taylor Ferry Fire Department and Flat Rock Fire all responded to assist.
Several emergency management agencies also arrived to assist in on-scene coordination and unified command: Muskogee County Emergency Management, City of Muskogee Emergency Management, Muskogee County EMS, Grand River Dam Authority, Mayes County Emergency Management and Mayes County EMS, Cherokee NationEmergency Management, Muscogee Creek Nation Lighthorse, Wagoner EMS, Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Wagoner.
