A new pedestrian traffic signal is operational on New Orleans Street (101st St.), across from Oliver Middle School and Wolf Creek Elementary, and crews are currently laying asphalt on the north side of the street.
“This will continue the next few days,” Construction Manager Timothy Robins, P.E. said. “Then, later this week, they will transition to constructing an asphalt patch in the middle of the roadway.”
Motorists should be advised that a lane shift will be in place starting Thursday as crews push the existing traffic to the new asphalt pavement on the north and south sides of the street. The additional asphalt will add life to the permanent roadway and provide a better base once surface coursing begins.
Robins says full turning motion will be allowed throughout construction but there will be construction in the center of the roadway for the next two weeks. After that, there will be a number of lane shifts with traffic control in place to finalize the asphalt and paving part of the project.
“We appreciate your patience as we complete the final stages of this project,” Robins said.
