The city of Broken Arrow says Tulsa Recycle & Transfer has announced its facility will reopen in February 2022.
TRT was expected to resume operations during the final week of December, however, it is experiencing delivery delays with the equipment it needs to operate its new system. That equipment is not expected to be ready until after the new year. TRT has been offline since April due to a fire at the facility.
In the meantime, City of Broken Arrow Solid Waste and Recycling crews are currently working on route efficiencies to be ready for the recycling center’s re-opening.
Crews will soon begin hauling waste and recycling in separate vehicles. One truck for solid waste. A different one for recyclables. The department will test of the two truck system for a couple of weeks before it is fully implemented.
The city asks that residents loosely place your recyclables like cardboard, plastic bottles and newspaper in the blue cart. Don’t bag the recyclables — simply place them in blue cart. Please make sure the blue cart is free of trash. This helps keep processing fees lower and it reduces contamination. Trash should be bagged and placed in the black cart.
