As we approach Independence Day, we want to remind you of the recent updates to Broken Arrow’s fireworks ordinance, as discussed by City Manager Michael Spurgeon in this video.
Residents are no longer required to obtain a permit or pay a fee to discharge fireworks on July 3rd and 4thfrom 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
While the permit requirement has been removed, please remember to follow these important rules:
- Fireworks are only allowed on July 3rd and 4th, from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
- The person setting off the fireworks must clean up any debris on the same day.
- Fireworks cannot be discharged on city property.
- Using fireworks outside the designated times will result in a $225 fine plus additional costs.
- Fines double for anyone discharging fireworks between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
- Commercial-grade fireworks and public displays still require a permit.
