A resurfacing project on Elgin Street, from 1st Street to 5th Street, will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
Cherokee Pride Construction Inc. will resurface the street, add ADA curb ramps at the intersections, build 2,550 linear feet of sidewalk, and perform other miscellaneous concrete work.
Demolition of the street, existing curb, gutter, and driveway entrances will be necessary during construction. Expect traffic flow disruptions during construction. Residents should not park in the street. Some trees in the right of way will also need to be removed.
The City will be working with the contractor to complete the project with minimum inconvenience to residents. The cost of the project is $341,775, paid for with a Community Development Block Grant. The project is expected to be completed in June 2022.
