The shooter and driver accused in the murder of Dacari Green last year in Broken Arrow have been sentenced to prison.
Green, 16, died of a gunshot wound in front of his home in the 1400 block of W. Trenton Street on Jan. 24, 2023.
Tyuane Barnes, a member of a federally recognized tribe, had his case handled in federal court and he was sentenced to
15 years in prison in August 2023 on charges of conspiracy and theft of a firearm.
Sixteen-year-old Ky’Leigh Shaw was sentenced to 17 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree manslaughter.
Prosecutors said Shaw fired the gunshots that killed Green and Barnes, 22, was driving the vehicle.
First-degree murder charges in Green’s death were dropped last year against Brandon Jordan, Tremaine Toliver, and Ja’Cori Whitmore, who are all 15 years old when the incident occurred.
Court documents said Shaw targeted Green for being a ‘rat’ and drove to his home to kill him. A witness told police Green proved to some people he wasn’t a rat, but Shaw was not on that phone call.
Police used cell phone records and nearby security cameras to pinpoint Shaw as the main suspect, according to prosecutors.
