Broken Arrow police have detained one juvenile after gunshots were heard near the Rooster Days festival Thursday night.
Just after 7 p.m., police working the festival heard gunshots just east of the festival, said BAPD Sgt. Jordan Sawyer.
Officers responded to the location and located the involved parties. An early investigation revealed an altercation took place between a group of juveniles. At some point during the altercation one juvenile produced a handgun and fired multiple shots in the air.
Officers detained one juvenile and recovered the firearm in question.
Sawyer said it appears to be an isolated incident and all involved parties have been identified. There is no ongoing threat to the public.
Police will continue to work security for the duration of the festival. Due to the parties involved being juveniles their names were not being released.
“We are thankful for the Broken Arrow Police Department for their quick response to the altercation across the street from the Rooster Days festival grounds. We look forward to a great weekend here at Rooster Days,” said festival organizers in a Facebook post after the incident was over.
