Get your dancing shoes on, strap on the feed bag, get your throwing arm ready and maybe get a good run in as Rooster Days, Oklahoma’s longest-running festival, kicks off at 5 p.m. today.
Presented by TTCU Federal Credit Union, the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce and the city of Broken Arrow, Rooster Days is in its 90th year. The annual festival runs today through Sunday, Sept. 5 in the Rose District.
“It’s always been a great place to catch live music, and this year is no different,” says city counilor Scott Eudey, who is serving as chairperson of the 2021 Rooster Days Festival.
Hours for operation for the festival this year are: Thursday, 9/2, 5-10 p.m.; Friday 9/3, 5-11 p.m.; Saturday 9/4, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday, 9/5, noon to 6 p.m.
This year’s festival is highlighted by:
• Rooster Days 5K Run: Sept. 4, Central Park, 8 a.m., 1500 S. Main St.
• Rooster Days Fun Run: Sept. 4, Central Park, 8:05 a.m., 1500 S. Main St.
• Rooster Days Parade: Sept. 4, 10 a.m., on Main Street between College Street and Mason Drive.
• Rooster Days Cornhole Tournament: Sept.4 — registration noon, play begins at 1 p.m., Central Park, 1500 S. Main St.
A full lineup of live music and entertainment is also on tap for 2021. Two local headliners who have made nationally televised appearances — Travis Kidd and Gracee Shriver — will perform at this year’s event.
“Travis has been a full-time musician for over 20 years and plays most of his shows in Oklahoma. He’s known for his ‘Oklahoma music’ originals as well as his unique covers,” said Eudey said.
“Gracee is most well known as a Top 16 contestant on Season 17 of NBC’s The Voice. She has also been chosen to be a part of the Oklahoma’s Women of Song project representing the women of country music from Oklahoma.”
