The Tulsa Police Department is investigating after a road rage shooting happened Sunday night on the Creek Turnpike.
Just after 9 p.m., police responded to a shooting that happened between 7500 and 8000 Highway 169. A caller said he drove to a fire station in Broken Arrow near the Creek Turnpike and Aspen for medical help due to a gunshot wound.
Police learned the victims, a man and a woman, were traveling south in a black SUV in the left lane when a maroon SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban, quickly came up behind them and began flashing its lights.
Eventually, the maroon SUV passed them and the driver began yelling at them and giving them offensive hand gestures, police said. The maroon SUV then got back in front of them and brake checked them, nearly causing a collision.
The victims reported they changed lanes because they were nearing their exit and wanted to get away from the suspect, who then fired multiple shots at the victims’ SUV. The male victim suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
The victims initially followed the suspect onto the Creek Turnpike. The suspect was speeding, and they eventually pulled over to get help, police said. The male victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to be fine. The woman in the car was not injured.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s to 40s, around 260 pounds, 6 feet tall, with a white mustache and a short/bald haircut.
Detectives from Tulsa are actively gathering evidence and trying to identify the suspect. Anyone with information about this shooting should call Tulsa Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS. You can remain anonymous when calling. Please reference case 2025-049986.
