Bixby school officials, students and families are mourning the loss of a high school student who was killed Tuesday in a car wreck.
Kinsey Wright, 15, a sophomore at Bixby High School, was one of several high school students involved in the accident at 121st Street and Yale Avenue. Most or all of the students were taken to the hospital, but Wright died overnight due to severe internal injuries. Kinsey was headed to soccer practice when the accident occurred.
Bixby Public Schools Supt. Rob Miller made an announcement Wednesday morning and explained the district was prepared to provide support for any students or staff “who may need help processing this very difficult news,” including Krista’s classmates.
“As many of you may know, the Wright family is deeply involved in Bixby Schools. Kinsey’s mom, Krista Wright, teaches at Bixby Middle School and her older brother graduated from BHS in 2022,” Miller said.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the Wright family and all families involved as our entire school community prepares to support them through this tragedy,” he added.
Kinsey was born March 27, 2008 daughter and sister to Krista and Damon Wright and her brother Kade Wright. She loved sports but her favorite was soccer, as she played with a couple of local clubs — Academy FC and her current club WSA. She also played with her high school team in Bixby.
She had just made a full recovery from an ACL tear to a knee that ended her season last year.
Friends have put together a GoFundMe campaign together for Krista’s family.
