A two-vehicle crash Monday on Highway 64 in Texas County killed 2 people and injured several more, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
The collision happened at 10:19 p.m. at the intersection of Mile 53, 7 miles east of Hooker.
Francisco Vicente, 55, of Liberal, Kan. Was driving a 2005 and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hooker Fire Department. Passenger Maria Lux Pu, 47, also of Liberal, was also pronounced dead.
His other passengers — 40-year-old Marco Chicaj of Liberal and three children, ages 11, 6 and 2 — were all transported to Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kan. and then transferred by Apollo to Wesley trauma Center in Wichita, Kan. for various injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle involved, a 2015 Chevy Silverado operated by 25-year-old Ashton Harrison of Beaver, was taken by Hooker EMS to Southwest Medical center in Liberal and transferred to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita and admitted in stable condition for head and neck injuries.
OHP said the accident was still under investigation and did comment on what caused the accident. The weather and roads were clear and dry at the time.
Seward County EMS assisted OHP, Hooker EMS and the Hooker Fire Department at the scene.
