The historic Rooster Days festival will celebrate its 91st year by returning to its traditional May dates.
In a press conference on Tuesday, the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce announced the official dates for the annual 4-day festival. Other updates for the festival included an entertainment lineup, payment changes, and a Where’s Rosco app.
The festival will be offering a cashless opportunity this year. Visitors will be able to use credit or debit cards throughout the festival.
The festival will also have an option for those that bring cash to convert the money into a physical card (for a $1 charge) or load a digital card onto their phone with a QR code. The carnival will still accept cash and debit/credit cards for ride coupons and wristbands.
“This is the longest-running festival in Oklahoma,” said Scott Eudey, Broken Arrow city councilor and chairman of the Rooster Days Committee. “It is a remarkable tribute to the history of our city and the experience of the people who live here.”
Travis Kidd, Red Dirt Rangers, Weston Horn and The Hush were announced as the live evening entertainment.
Leading up to the festival, “Rosco’s” will be hidden around various locations in Broken Arrow. Some of the Rosco’s will offer items like discounts or coupons to places around town.
An app will be available for download leading up to the festival which will provide a map of the Rosco’s before and during the festival.
“We’re excited to offer these new things to expand Rooster Days,” said Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce President Jennifer Conway. “When you talk about that app, what’s exciting is that it really hits the core of the Chamber of Commerce and our mission, which is not only to build a strong community but ensure that our community is engaging with our businesses throughout.
So this gives an opportunity for people to find businesses maybe they’ve never engaged with or find places in our community that they didn’t know the hidden jewel.”
