May is a time of celebration at Northeastern State University as we conclude another academic year. It’s remarkable how quickly this semester has flown by. We invite you to join us in honoring the achievements of 1,103 graduating students through commencement ceremonies.
On Friday, the Oklahoma College of Optometry ceremony was held at the NSU Center for the Performing Arts in Tahlequah, and graduate candidates from the Gregg Wadley College of Science & Health Professions crossed the commencement stage at the NSU Event Center.
On Saturday ceremonies will continue at the NSU Event Center with the College of Education commencement at 9:30 a.m., followed by the College of Business & Technology and College of Liberal Arts ceremony at 1:30 p.m.
The ceremony for all NSU-Broken Arrow colleges will take place on May 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the ORU Mabee Center in Tulsa. Addressing the graduates and their guests will be Dillin Springwater, 2024 NSU Outstanding Young Alumnus; Reggie Ivey, 2024 NSU Distinguished Alumnus; and Michael Spurgeon, 2024 recipient of the President’s Award for Community Service.
Springwater, who graduated from NSU in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, leads three companies in Tahlequah and has been honored with the Tahlequah Daily Press Everyday Hero award for his community support efforts, including raising $15,000 for Habitat for Humanity. He will deliver the commencement address for the Gregg Wadley College of Science & Health Professions ceremony on May 9.
Ivey, who graduated from NSU in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, has dedicated over 30 years to public health, including roles at the Oklahoma State Department of Health and the Tulsa Health Department. He will deliver the commencement address for the College of Education and the combined ceremony for the College of Business & Technology and College of Liberal Arts on May 10.
Spurgeon, an Army veteran with a distinguished career in local government and a graduate of Edison State College and Rutgers University, will deliver the commencement address for the NSU-Broken Arrow ceremony on May 12, where he played a pivotal role in campus projects.
Guests are welcome to attend, and NSU will livestream the ceremonies for those unable to attend in person. For more information about NSU’s spring 2025 commencement ceremonies, visit nsuok.edu/Commencement.
