UPDATE: The Wagoner County Election Board unanimously voted Monday to reject the challenge by David Greeno, and Patrick Sampson remains on the ballot.
Patrick Sampson, a candidate for the Wagoner County Board of Commissioners, faces a hearing Monday over questions about his residency.
A complaint was filed by one of his opponents in the District 3 June primary, David Greeno, with the Wagoner County Election Board. Sampson was elected to the Wagoner City Council for Ward 1 but resigned last year.
Sampson confirmed Greeno’s challenge is due to residency. “I’m confident I meet all legal requirements and have established my residence in Coweta. I respect the process and will let it run its course,” Sampson told the Sentinel on Sunday.
Greeno also confirmed he is contesting Sampson’s residency but he did not comment further. The hearing is set for 2 p.m. at the Wagoner County Commissioner’s meeting room.
Sampson had previously listed a location on the far north side of Wagoner as his home address, which would not fall within the boundaries of District 3, but rather in District 2. However, on Sunday Sampson showed the Sentinel his voter registration address, which he used to file for office, which is in the 15700 block of S. 297th East Avenue in Coweta.
The Wagoner County Election Board will hear both sides of the dispute and is expected to render a decision afterwards on Monday.
