The Broken Arrow Board of Education unanimously agreed Monday to appoint Steve Dunn as the next superintendent of the Broken Arrow Public Schools. Dunn will take the helm at one of the state’s largest school districts for the 2027-28 school year.
Current Supt. Chuck Perry will continue to serve as in his role through the 2026-27 school year, after recently announcing his pending retirement.
Dunn has served BAPS in a variety of leadership roles over the past 15 years, including teacher, coach, assistant principal, assistant director of athletics, executive director of athletics and, most recently, associate superintendent.
He also gained district leadership experience while serving in Owasso Public Schools before returning to Broken Arrow in 2018.
“After thoughtful consideration, the Board is confident we have selected the right leader for Broken Arrow Public Schools,” said School Board President Steve Allen in a statement. “Steve Dunn is a proven leader who understands our district, believes in our mission and has earned the trust and respect of our employees, students and community.
“We are excited to partner with him as we continue building on the strong foundation that has been established.”
Perry said he supported the appointment of Dunn. “Steve understands what makes Broken Arrow Public Schools special. He believes in our people, values our traditions and shares a deep commitment to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed. Our district is in great hands and I know it will continue to thrive under Steve’s leadership.”
Dunn said it’s an “incredible honor” to be chosen to lead the district, which has more than 20,000 students. “This district has meant so much to my family and me throughout my career.
“I am grateful to the Board of Education for this opportunity, and I look forward to working alongside our exceptional teachers, support staff, administrators, families and community to continue providing outstanding opportunities for every student.”
