A Broken Arrow man has been arrested on a warrant Wednesday for sex crimes after an investigation by sheriff’s deputies and Broken Arrow police.
Authorities located Jerry V. Lafayette in Broken Arrow at his residence and served him with an arrest warrant. He was taken into custody and transported to the Wagoner County Detention Center where he was charged with lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16. His bond set at $100,000 dollars.
Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Jake Carey said he was contacted on April 26 by the Broken Arrow Police Department in reference to a sexual assault that they were investigating involving a juvenile.
The victim stated that the suspect, identified as Lafayette had assaulted them on multiple occasions over a 4-year period.
This information was disclosed during a forensic interview that was conducted by a trained forensic interviewer. Upon receiving this information, Carey submitted the information the District Attorney Jack Thorp’s office for review and issuance of charges. The warrant was received May 20.
The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Broken Arrow Police Department, District 27 Task Force and the Wagoner County District Attorney’s Office for their assistance with the investigation.
