A Broken Arrow man is among four people facing federal drug trafficking charges, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Wednesday.
Aaron Wilkie Murphy, 51, is charged with organizing, leading and profiting from the distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl.
The U.S Attorneys Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma alleged Murphy conspired with several others to possess and distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, while maintaining a residence for the purpose of drug distribution, and traveled to Mexico to manage and further promote his enterprise drug conspiracy, according to a grand jury indictment.
Also charged in the indictment were Hongi Thoa Thi Nguyen, Joshua Clay Murphy and Toymeka Louise Shackleford.
Nguyen, 45, of Tulsa, Joshua Murphy, 47, of Milfay, and Shackleford, 49, of Tulsa, are charged with conspiring to possess and distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl from March 2022 through February 2025. Nguyen is additionally charged with maintaining a residence for the purpose of narcotics distribution.
The DEA, U.S. Marshal Service and the Tulsa Police Department are investigating the case. The DEA Mexico City Country Office, along with the Hermosillo Mexico Resident Office, the U.S. Marshal Service Mexico City Field Office, Mexican Marines and the Mexico Federal Police assisted in the arrest and return of Aaron Murphy and Nguyen.
Back in February, Aaron Murphy and Nguyen, were returned from Mexico to Oklahoma after Murphy was indicted on drug charges in 2023. The couple fled before being indicted, but federal agents worked with Mexican authorities to arrest the couple as they were residing in Puerto Vallarta.
