A Broken Arrow man was killed Sunday when his motorcycle was hit by a driver going through wrong way on the IDL in downtown Tulsa.
Carlos Arteaga, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMSA after the colliding with a pickup truck that was going eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-444 at South Denver Avenue, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.
The driver of the truck, a 2023 Chevy Silverado, was 64-year-old James Basse Delton of Tulsa. He was taken to OSU Medical Center to be medically evaluated and cleared, but found to be alcohol impaired, according to police. He is facing DUI and 1st degree manslaughter charges.
Another motorcycle rider, Felix Aguilar, 28 of Tulsa, was admitted in guarded condition at OSU Medical Center.
The Tulsa Police Department and Tulsa Fire Department assisted at the scene.
