The man who died during a police-involved shooting incident Sunday night has been identified.
The man pronounced deceased is 54-year-old Troy Anspaw from Broken Arrow. Police did not share further details about the case.
The incident happened in the 8600 block of S. Willow Springs Court, near 131st Street and Aspen Avenue and the Indian Springs Sports Complex.
Around 8 p.m. officers responded to a residential area for a “call for service” — the nature of which officers have not commented on.
Officers located the Anspaw’s vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Anspaw did not respond to officers’ commands and, according to police, “ultimately exited the vehicle armed with a gun and shots were fired by officers,” said BAPD Public Information Officer Ethan Hutchins.
Officers immediately rendered first aid to Anspaw, who was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced deceased.
The incident remains under investigation. Due to tribal components, the FBI is assisting in the probe.
