The Broken Arrow Economic Development Authority will consider the city’s proposed purchase of land Tuesday for the Sunset Amphitheater on the city’s southeast side.
Council members are voting whether to approve a purchase and sales agreement for 41 acres of vacant land just north of the Broken Arrow Events Park, 21101 East 101st St., for $2,080,000 from owner Gary Keel and Keel Investment Co. of Coweta. TIF funds are listed as the source of funding to buy the property.
The city is then expected to sell about 15 acres of the property to Colorado-based entertainment company Notes Live and Sunset Amphitheater LLC, which is developing the $71.5 million facility that is expected to open in 2025.
Just this past week, the development passed its first regulatory hurdle when the Broken Arrow Planning Commission recommended approval of a proposed TIF district to help pay for $25 million in infrastructure costs related to the project. The TIF proposal will be considered by the City Council at its January meetings.
The Broken Arrow City Council meeting Tuesday starts at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 220 S. 1st St. The EDA meeting where the land purchased will be discussed starts at the conclusion of the regular City Council meeting.
