Broken Arrow police and firefighters are investigating after responding to a house fire and finding a deceased person inside.
The Broken Arrow Fire Department was dispatched to the 400 block of North Fir Place in the early afternoon for a residential structure fire.
“Upon arrival there was smoke and flames present. Unfortunately, when firefighters performed their initial search and rescue, they did find one individual inside the home deceased,” said BAFD Public Information Officer Jarrett Hardwick.

Authorities declined to identify the deceased person, but family identified the victim as Charles Lee Carnagey, 74.
Yellow tape was strung around the front of the house and investigators with the fire department were seen going in and out of the address. A tarp was placed on a portion of the roof.
The Tulsa County Medical Examiner’s Office was also at the scene.
Hardwick said the incident is being jointly investigated by the police and fire departments. Authorities would not elaborate if the fire or manner of death was suspicious.
