A house on the far northeast side of Broken Arrow was destroyed by a fire early Saturday, the Broken Arrow Fire Department said.
The homeowners weren’t present when the fire in the 3200 block of S. 217th E. Ave. was called in at 10:39 a.m.
While enroute, crews receive reports of smoke and flames coming from the back side of the home, which was confirmed when firefighters arrived. Wind was also a factor as crews battled flames before getting the fire under control, the department said.
Firefighters from Broken Arrow and Rolling Hills Fire Protection District #1 brought out multiple water lines out on the back side of the home and were able to extinguish the flames. Three cats and 1 dog were able to escape but one other cat died.
Crews were on scene for more than two hours before the scene was closed. There was no word Saturday on what caused the fire.
