Quick action by firefighters helped save most of a residential structure that caught fire Monday.
The Broken Arrow Fire Department responded at 3:33 p.m. to a home at 10206 S 194th Ave. E., near New Orleans Street and County Line Road.
Upon arrival, crews were met with heavy smoke and flames that could be seen from the back side of the home. Although the fire extended in to the attic, crews were able to stop on the fire and save the bulk of the home, including the living spaces on the main floor.
Firefighters also safely removed 3 dogs and 1 pig from the structure that were reunited with the owners, who were not home at the time the fire started. The air temperature was 26 degrees, so firefighters worked through frigid conditions.
BAFD was on scene for about 2 hours. The Broken Arrow Police Department assisted at the scene.
