Two national food retailers and a convenience store have shown “significant interest” in Aspen Ridge development, where a Reasor’s grocery store is already going in.
In January, Brookshire Grocery Co. announced it had finalized a deal to acquire Reasor’s 17 supermarkets, including the one to be constructed in South Broken Arrow.
Brookshire will continue to operate under the Reasor’s brand.
OakTrust Development Representative Steve Easley has also reached an agreement with CORE Church for an additional 3 acres within the TIF boundaries and has secured commitments from national tenants for the land.
He also has letters of intent for more than 100,000 square feet of the 260,000 square feet of retail space he is obligated to fill.
The development’s conditional final plat will go before the planning commission on May 12 and is expected to be presented to the City Council on May 17.
“Once the plat is approved, I expect these business announcements to start coming out,” Rush said.
She also anticipates that additional businesses will show interest in coming to the area once the development’s construction begins.
“The developer has indicated he will apply for an earth change permit for the Reasor’s lot in the next few weeks, and construction will begin 125 days after the dirt starts moving,” Rush said.
The city’s portion of the development is underway. The main drive entry and 90% of the sidewalk and the offsite utilities, such as water and sewer, are complete.
Light pole bases are being installed along Norfolk Road. Traffic signal poles are also being installed and will soon be operational to address the heavy construction traffic coming in and out of the area.
