Summer is in full swing at Northeastern State University and while the campus may seem quiet, we are busy with summer activities and preparation for the fall semester.
We have an abundance of exciting opportunities available for all ages this summer, ranging from summer camps for youth to continuing education opportunities for those trying to get ahead.
The Alternative Certification for Educators Institute will be held on June 17, providing a full day of professional development, collaboration and inspiration for current and future educators across Oklahoma.
From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., ACE participants, mentors and educators from across the state will gather for hands-on learning, networking and growth, gaining practical strategies for effective teaching. Those in attendance will explore topics like classroom management, culturally responsive teaching, technology integration and will learn how to thrive in both traditional and alternative certification pathways.
This summer institute is open for ACE Institute Scholarship recipients, alternative and emergency certified teachers, career-changers entering education, paraprofessionals pursuing a teaching degree and anyone passionate about strengthening Oklahoma’s teacher pipeline.

As the first half of summer courses are already in progress, many students are using this time to get ahead in their degrees. Summer classes allow students to complete prerequisites and lighten their class load for the fall. If you haven’t made the jump yet, July 1 is the last day to enroll for 4- and 7- week summer classes.
