As the days grow longer and signs of spring slowly but surely emerge, Northeastern State University is gearing up for a season filled with exciting events that are sure to leave create lasting memories for students and members of the community.
On March 6, NSU will recognize six individuals who have made a profound impact on NSU and beyond during the Centurion Luncheon on the NSU-Tahlequah campus. Past honorees include students, faculty, staff and alumni who inspire excellence and leadership.
The newest class of NSU Centurions to be honored include:
- Attorney General of the Cherokee Nation Chad Harsha, JD, former Secretary of Natural Resources of the Cherokee Nation, 2009 Alumnus
- Dr. Alan Herrin, Ph.D., M.S., 1958 Alumnus
- Mr. William “Bill” Langley Jr., NSU Foundation board member, 1969 Alumnus
- Mr. Bobby J. Thompson, MBA, VP of Operations at Contech Construction, Inc., Alumni Representative of the Phi Lambda Chi fraternity, 1983 and 1985 Alumnus
- Ms. Holly Cunningham Sisk, 1986 Alumna
- Dr. Darryl Linde, Ph.D., M.S., NSU Professor of Mathematics and former Chair of Department of Math and Computer Science
Did you know NSU was chosen to host the annual Oklahoma Research Day for the next two years? Join us on March 7 on the Tahlequah campus as over 1,000 students and faculty from across 12 institutions throughout the entire state of Oklahoma visit our campus to present their innovative studies.
We are honored to host this conference and the history it holds in its 25 years of showing how dedicated our students are to their research while bringing in individuals from all backgrounds and educational interests together.
This year’s theme is “Bringing Tradition & Innovation,” and will be held at the NSU Tahlequah Campus in the University Center and Jack Dobbins Fieldhouse. This event is free and open to the public.

Students and faculty will have a well-deserved Spring Break from March 17-21. Campus will be closed to allow time for everyone to rest up before the final stretch to the end of the semester.

It’s never too early to look ahead, April provides just as many events for NSU and the local community, the month kicks off with an Open House on April 4, which offers prospective students an opportunity to explore the majors and programs in the Gregg Wadley College of Science & Health Professions. High school seniors and transfer students are encouraged to attend the Open House to explore their options for their future two years of college.
