The city of Broken Arrow announces the opening of a new Broken Arrow Veterans Center, north of Veterans Park, at 1117 S. Main St., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house Tuesday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m.
The Broken Arrow Veterans Center is a 4,600-square-foot facility that features offices, meeting space and a catering kitchen for the local chapters of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Vietnam Veterans, the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Blue Star Mothers.
“Broken Arrow has a long-standing tradition of honoring and supporting veterans. Our Military History Center and Veterans Park are perfect examples of that commitment,” City Manager Michael Spurgeon said. “Adding our new Veterans Center only further demonstrates our desire to ensure that those who have served and sacrificed have a place to gather and work on providing services to fellow patriots in our city and region.”
Magnum Construction served as the contractor on the new facility with $2 million allocated for the entirety of the project which finished at approximately $1.9 million, funded by the 2018 Build Our Future BA GO Bond.
City of Broken Arrow officials and representatives from various veterans’ groups broke ground on what was then called the Armed Forces Meeting Hall in September 2020. The Broken Arrow Veterans Center project was completed on time and under budget.
