The Tulsa Police Department is investigating after several people were shot during a large gathering in Tulsa, Tulsa Traffic Jams reported.
Shortly before 1 a.m., dispatchers received reports of numerous gunshot victims in the area of 129th East Avenue and Admiral Place where hundreds of teens and young adults were gathered.
The Tulsa Police Department, Tulsa Fire Department and multiple EMTs responded and encountered an emotional and chaotic scene, TTJ says, as attendees were running all over the area. Some were injured by gunshots and others were hurt when they fell while fleeing the area.
Firefighters, EMSA and private vehicles began taking the injured to Tulsa hospitals.
Multiple areas were blocked off as the investigation continues into the shooting. Police have not yet shared how many people were injured or if there were any fatalities. TTJ says it’s believed there were multiple shooters.
TTJ says the party was at a business lot that wasn’t the original location that was planned. The party was a Juneteenth after-hours celebration type party, TTJ learned.
Detectives are investigating multiple scenes, collecting and processing evidence, and taking witnesses, as well as inverting how the business came to be the location for the party and who supplied the alcohol.
Tulsa police urge anyone with video or who witnessed the shooting to call Tulsa Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS (2677), where you can always remain anonymous.
