Starting in April, NSU will be offering an eight-week online course that will focus on leadership in both the detention and law enforcement career fields. Students will receive 3 hours of college credit, as well as 40 CLEET hours for certified deputies.
Over the course of the class, students will learn about the principles of leadership and how to apply them in their roles as leaders and future leaders at TCSO. Ten employees have already been approved to take part in the pilot program.
Thanks to grant funding secured by NSU, this leadership class is completely free to both the students as well as the Sheriff’s Office. Once the eight-week pilot program is complete, future courses will be open to all TCSO employees.
Speaking in the video are Tulsa County Sheriff Vic Regalado, NSU Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Carla Swearingen, Capt. Mike Moore, Capt. Mike Heisten and NSU professor of criminal justice Stacey White.
