The water tank atop Tiger Hill on Broken Arrow’s north side will soon be getting a facelift and maintenance upgrade.
The 2-million-gallon tank, first brought online in the city in 1979, has come due for upgrades, maintenance and repairs, says Tim Robbins, the city’s utilities director.
The city’s Engineering and Construction Department has hired Kimberly Painting for just over $1 million for the rehab of this tank.
Over the next 4-6 months motorists will be seeing cranes and “and a lot of workers” on top of the tank welding in new parts and pieces.
Robbins said he would update the public on progress of the project in a couple of months. He reiterated the work would not have affect the city’s water service.
The Tiger Hill project is the latest news with the city’s water towers. Construction is expected to start early this year on a new water tower at the northeast corner of New Orleans Street and Lynn Lane Road.
The elevated water storage tank – the city’s seventh overall — will stand 187 feet tall and hold up to 2.5 million gallons of water.
The $10.7 million project consists of constructing the tank, two waterline connections, an overflow pipe, a detention pond, site grading, an access road, a fence-enclosed tank site, paving and electrical work, including Federal Aviation Administration lighting.
