A group plans to build a $19 million medical campus in southern Broken Arrow that will feature cutting-edge energy efficiency and germ-protective technology for doctors, employees and patients.
The 60,000-square-foot campus being developed by 7315 Investments will go up at 4700 S. Elm Pl., just north of Florence Street. Each tower will be three floors with a concrete structure and glass curtain walls.
The building will have “Well Being” certification from the International Well Building Institute, including far-UVC lighting that cleans the air in large spaces. The technology developed by Columbia University kills airborne or surface pathogens in occupied locations.
Anti-microbial polymers will also be used that kills and prevent bacteria on surfaces. And using medical-grade ultra-violet light and HEPA filters inside the heating and air-conditioning systems will also ensure germ-free air enters each space, the developers said.
Schematic drawings of this project had been placed in that location — between and behind Braum’s Ice Cream & Dairy Store and Haberno’s Mexican Grill & Bar — for several years, until July when residents noticed large new signs about the development had replaced the old faded ones.
At that time, City Manager Michael Spurgeon confirmed on social media that he had checked with the developer and the project was moving forward. The buildings are expected to be completed in mid-2022. Tollefsen Construction is the developer of the project and Chinowth and Cohen Commercial will handle leasing.
It was unclear Thursday if the project required any zoning changes or needed to go before the planning commission or city council.
