“Saving Clayton,” a documentary about Bill and Lisa Woolley’s harrowing journey to be reunited with their grandson, was honored Saturday as Best Documentary at the Will Rogers Motion Picture Festival.
The honor came during the Dog Iron Awards in Claremore. The Will Rogers Motion Picture Festival celebrates motion pictures from a number of different genres and age groups and honors the hard work and creativity of filmmakers around the world.
Finalists for the slate of filmmaking awards were announced Sept. 28.
Bill and Lisa Woolley of Broken Arrow were charged with the death of their grandson Elijah in 2018 but charges were subsequently dropped by Wagoner County District Attorney Jack Thorp. But the Woolleys have been unable to see their other grandson Clayton, or regain guardianship, as he remains under the care of another guardian in Broken Arrow.
