The Broken Arrow Police Department says 1 person was killed early Monday when a motorcycle crashed into another vehicle on Highway 51. The motorcyclist was identified at 37-year-old Scott Allen Zinn.
According to police, witnesses reported Zinn was traveling eastbound on State Highway 51 at a high rate of speed when he rear-ended a vehicle near the Aspen Avenue exit and lost control.
Emergency personnel arrived quickly and attempted life-saving measures, but Zinn died from his injuries at the scene.
Personnel from the Broken Arrow Fire Department and the BAPD Traffic Safety and Crime Scene units, as well as the Drone Unit, responded to process the scene and safely manage the roadway closure. Eastbound lanes of SH-51 remained closed for several hours during the investigation.
“We encourage all drivers, especially motorcyclists, to obey speed limits and make safety a top priority,” BAPD said in a statement Monday. “We remain committed to reducing serious collisions and preventing future tragedies.”
