The City of Broken Arrow is joining communities across the nation in celebrating America’s 250th Birthday with a series of special events and activities leading up to including Independence Day.
Residents are invited to take part in a variety of events that honor America’s past, celebrate our community today, and leave something meaningful for future generations.
“As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, Broken Arrow is proud to honor the ideals of faith, freedom, service, and community that have guided our nation for generations,” said Mayor Debra Wimpee.
“This historic milestone gives us a unique opportunity to come together, celebrate our nation’s remarkable journey, honor the sacrifices that secured our freedoms, and create lasting memories that will inspire generations to come.”
New Orleans Square Block Party Kickoff
The celebration begins June 26-27 with a community block party at New Orleans Square. The family-friendly event is back and will feature entertainment, activities, food, and opportunities for residents to gather and celebrate America’s 250th Birthday. Both evenings will conclude with a fireworks display.
Time Capsule Ceremony
City officials and staff will gather on June 30 at Veterans Park on Main Street to bury a 25-year time capsule. The capsule will preserve memories, milestones, and items that represent life in Broken Arrow today for future generations to discover. Additional details about the ceremony will be announced soon.
Tuesdays in the Park June 30
The fifth and final Tuesdays in the Park concert of the season will take place June 30 in Central Park. Attendees can enjoy an evening of live music followed by a special 250-second fireworks display in honor of America’s 250th Birthday.
Honoring Veterans in the Rose District
Veteran banners displayed throughout the Rose District will remain in place through July 4. The banners recognize local veterans whose service and sacrifice have helped preserve the freedoms celebrated during America’s 250 years of independence. Residents are encouraged to visit downtown Broken Arrow and view the banners as part of the celebration.
City Proclamation
The Broken Arrow City Council will formally recognize America’s 250th Birthday during its June 15 meeting through the presentation of a special proclamation commemorating the historic anniversary.
Community Blood Drive Challenge
As part of the America 250 celebration, Broken Arrow is partnering with the Our Blood Institute to collect 250 pints of blood. Community blood drives will be held throughout the summer, and residents are encouraged to donate and help reach the community-wide goal.

$2.50 Pool Admission on July 4
To celebrate the nation’s 250th Birthday, admission to City of Broken Arrow pools will be $2.50 on July 4th only. Residents are invited to cool off, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy a fun and affordable way to celebrate the holiday.
Church Bells Ringing at 2:50 p.m.
On July 4, churches throughout Broken Arrow are encouraged to participate in the nationwide America 250 observance by ringing their bells at 2:50 p.m. for 250 seconds.
