The Broken Arrow City Council, without comment, approved a purchase and sales agreement of property Tuesday for the proposed Sunset Amphitheater on the city’s southeast side.
The $2 million purchase and sales agreement for 41 acres just north of the Broken Arrow Events Park was listed as part of the consent agenda for the Economic Development Authority’s regular meeting, which convened after the regular City Council meeting finished.
Consent agenda items are typically for routine city business that may not warrant full discussion by the Council and are usually approved all at once unless a City Council member opts to pull an item out for discussion.
The development agreement signed by the city and Notes Live calls for the city, upon closing of its land purchase, to sell up to 15 acres to the Colorado Springs-based entertainment company and Sunset Amphitheater LLC.
The city also announced the details of a public forum about the $71.5 million amphitheater project to be held Jan. 9. The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Administrative Services building at Northeastern State University-Broken Arrow’s campus.
The city of Broken Arrow and Notes Live will have representatives at the forum to discuss plans and timelines for the construction of the public improvements and the amphitheater.
Notes Live will also address concerns residents may have about traffic, sound levels, lighting, public safety and other issues. The city said residents will have a chance to ask questions and see renderings of the complex.”
The city has mailed out informational letters about the meeting to 300 homeowners who live in the vicinity of the proposed development.
