Houston-based oil energy company Baker Hughes Co. confirmed Friday that it plans to close its Broken Arrow office.
In a statement, the company said it will not close until 2023. About 170 employees work at the company’s Broken Arrow building, located at 3000 N. Hemlock Circle. The company said manufacturing at this site will be transferred to other locations within the company.
“We regularly review our operational footprint due to changing market conditions and customer demands, and the current environment requires us to restructure parts of our business,” Baker Hughes said in a statement.
The company did not directly answer questions Friday about what services or options will be offered, if any, to potentially displaced employees.
“This decision was not taken lightly, and we make it with the utmost sensitivity to how it affects our employees, customers and communities,” the company said. “We remain focused on right-sizing our footprint for our customer base and market conditions through this challenging time.”
