The Broken Arrow Police Department is partnering with the Broken Arrow Round-Up Club to host the third annual Cowboys, Cops, and Kids Exceptional Rodeo. The event is this Saturday, May 11 from Noon to 2:00 p.m.
This event will pair a Law Enforcement Officer, Cowboy or Cowgirl with a child with special needs “partner” to go through a series of rodeo-like, but kid-friendly events.
Events will include a petting zoo, stick horse barrel race, mini-bull encounter, horseback riding, bull riding (bucking machine), stick horse pole bending, and dummy calf roping. The children will be provided back numbers, cowboy hats, lariat ropes, and other prizes. They will also have the opportunity to interact with Police Officers and Pro Rodeo Contestants in a rodeo setting.
“The event gives us the unique opportunity to engage with members of our community while giving these exceptional children their own special day,” said Public Affairs Officer Mike Peale. “We focus on their abilities, not their limitations.”
Admission is free, and we encourage everyone to come out to cheer on and celebrate the accomplishments of these exceptional children.
