Broken Arrow Public Schools Supt. Chuck Perry was named Wednesday as one of two new members of the Board of Regents for the Regional University System of Oklahoma (RUSO).
The other new member is Dr. Tom Kupiec, a renowned scientist and entrepreneur, who will serve through June 10, 2028. Perry will serve a 9-year term on the board.
Jane McDermott, chairwoman of the Board of Regents said in a statement that the backgrounds and dedication of both men to education “will undoubtedly support our commitment to academic excellence and innovation in the state. We look forward to their contributions as we work together to advance the mission of the Regional University System of Oklahoma.”
Perry will be the representative for Position 4. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Tulsa and his Master of Education from Northeastern State University-Broken Arrow, a RUSO institution.
Perry has served more than three decades to the educational sector, including his current role as superintendent of Broken Arrow Public Schools.
Perry disks it’s a “profound honor” to serve on the RUSL board. “As an alumnus of a RUSO university, I have personally experienced the high caliber education and opportunities that this system provides to Oklahoma students.”
He noted RUSO graduates contribute significantly to teaching in Oklahoma classrooms, with 85% of education graduates working in Oklahoma 5 years after graduation.
“I look forward to contributing to the legacy of educational excellence and helping guide the future of our institutions,” Perry said.
Kupiec educational journey began at the University of Central Oklahoma, where he earned both his bachelor’s in chemistry and a master’s in education and chemistry. He furthered his education with a PhD in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.
Kupiec’s professional accomplishments include founding ARL Bio Pharma in 1998, acquiring DNA Solutions in 2000 and establishing The Kupiec Group in 2005.
