Union Board of Education member Chris McNeil will be squaring off against challenger Shelley Gwartney later this spring in a runoff election after they garnered the top two vote totals in Tuesday’s primary.
McNeil needed 50% of the vote to retain the Zone 2 seat but fell short with 46%. Gwartney proved a tough challenger and received 44.9% of the vote, and Derek Rader registered 9.1%.
The election to decide the overall winner will be held April 5.
