Broken Arrow chef Jacque Siegfried, who is bringing a unique Native American flavor with her new restaurant, was named as a semifinalist Wednesday for Best Chef-Southwest by the James Beard Foundation.
Siegfried, who with her husband Ricky opened Natv in 2022 on South Main Street in the Rose District, made the cut among a competitive field of chefs in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Oklahoma. (See our article here.)
Also nominated were Tulsa-area chefs Jordan Hawley of Il Seme and Alexandre Figueria of Doctor Kustom. Jeff Chanchaleune from Ma Der Lao Kitchen in Oklahoma City was also named.
Nātv was founded from the dream of Executive Chef Jacque Siegfried, whom since she was little girl always wanted to start a Native American restaurant. Being of Shawnee decent, Siegfried decided it was time to bring a Native American restaurant to the Tulsa area after she left The Tulsa Club Hotel/Chamber Restaurant’s Executive Chef position.
Nātv is focused on showcasing not only Native American dishes with a modernized take, but also native to Oklahoma ingredients, utilizing locally grown ingredients sourced from local farms and tribes.
The honors were announced as part of the 2024 Restaurant and Chef Awards semifinalists for the James Beard Awards presented by Capital One.
Nominees will be announced on Wednesday, April 3, and winners will be announced at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Ceremony on June 10 at the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
