Winter Storm Nancy and Winter Storm Oaklee are looking to bring severe storms, sleet, freezing rain and snow this week as cold air makes a return to the state.
Monday will feel like paradise with sunny skies and highs in the mid- to upper 70s, accompanied by a very high fire danger as well.
There will be a chance of thunderstorms Monday night, with a very slight risk of severe weather in the Tulsa area due to potential for high winds and hail. The tornado threat will be mostly in southeastern Oklahoma.
Tuesday is forecast to be sunny with highs in the lower 50s. Temperatures will drop like a rock Tuesday night into the teens.
The real fun begins Wednesday with a wintry mix on tap that could include sleet, freezing rain and snow. A second shot of winter weather will arrive for Thursday and Thursday night with more sleet, freezing rain and snow possible.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service said it’s probably too early to forecast precipitation totals. But it’s looking more likely that a good portion of eastern
Oklahoma and western Arkansas will see more sleet and freezing rain than snow, forecasters said Sunday.
Significant impacts from the sleet and ice are looking possible.
