A ceremony commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the terrorist attack on the United States on Sept. 11, 2001, will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at Veterans Park, 1111 S. Main St. in Broken Arrow.
The commemoration will be hosted by the Broken Arrow VFW Post 10887 with an introduction by Post Commander Ralph Pointer. Broken Arrow Mayor Debra Wimpee and City Manager Michael Spurgeon will speak, as well as Broken Arrow Police Chief Brandon Berryhill on behalf of First Responders.
Broken Arrow Police Sergeant Bryan Bandy, who served 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, will honor the 13 U.S. Service Members killed in Afghanistan on August 26. The fallen will be remembered in a moment of silence, a 21-gun salute, and special music. The ceremony will conclude with the bugle call “Taps”.
