A driver who confused the gas for the brakes plowed into Old World Pizza in Broken Arrow Tuesday morning, authorities said.
At about 9:30 a.m., the driver’s Cadillac crashed through the storefront and went several feet into the restaurant before coming to rest.
The driver wasn’t injured, but the accident left a mess of twisted metal and broken glass for the owners to clean up. The pizza restaurant has become a stalwart in New Orleans Square since it opened a few years ago.
“Our day didn’t start good as everyone knows, but I am here to say thank you for everyone, for all the love and support we received today,” the owner said in a Facebook post.
“Our neighbors, our customers and friends, our staff (our kids) that texted to me to offer help, our food representatives, BA Fire Department and BAPD, Tiger electric and ONG, thank you so much.”
The owner hopes to be back in business in about a week. Firefighters and police were on scene for an hour.
