Broken Arrow police say the 12-year-old boy who was hit by a truck while sledding Thursday has died of his injuries.
The child’s identity has not been released as the family is still notifying family members and has requested privacy.
Police are still searching for the truck that hit the child, who was sledding on the north side of Albany Street around 5:21 p.m. when he entered the roadway and was struck by the westbound vehicle. The vehicle did not stop and continued going west after hitting the boy.
Video and witness statements indicate the truck was a ¾-ton or 1-ton newer-model white pickup with dark windows and extended mirrors. The juvenile was treated on scene and taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police are still working to identify the truck and its driver.
