With the beginning of the first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 18, the city of Broken Arrow has asked the Contractor to pause roadway construction on the New Orleans Street widening project between Olive and and Aspen avenues until Sept. 7.
This pause will allow parents and students an opportunity to learn the best drop-off and pick-up routines associated with Wolf Creek Elementary School and Oliver Middle School.
Construction crews will continue to work on the sidewalks in the right of way, however, the crews will not be on the roadway surface until after the Labor Day holiday.
The Contractor will also provide traffic management services for the pedestrian crossing during school arrival and dismissal hours.
Additionally, “No Left Turn” signs will be posted at the schools’ parking lot exits to alert drivers that no left turns onto New Orleans Street are permitted until after the project is complete.
The City of Broken Arrow encourages all motorists to obey all traffic laws and drive carefully in all construction zones and school zones.
The New Orleans Street widening project is expected to be completed in December 2021.
